What is a knit-along? Knit-alongs are usually held 90 minutes prior to our normal monthly meeting. A small group of interested knitters meets for two or three months to learn a technique or work on a project. Often, the group may provide each other support via e-mail or telephone.

Prior knit-along subjects have been: socks, double-knitting, modular knitting, Medrith Glover's Circumnavigated Cardigan, Lucy Neatby's Radiant Shawl ,  Elizabeth Zimmermann's Baby Surprise Sweater,  Sunburst Slingbag by justonemorerow.com, Chris Bylsma's Crayon Box Jacket and Elizabeth Zimmermann's Ribwarmer.

KNIT-ALONG FOR JULY

Cottage Creations Rambling Rows Jacket

Child size to Adult, you choose!

Join us at 12:30 before the July guild meeting!

(note the time change)

Carol has started a ravelry thread on it. You can see some variations of the pattern on ravelry here (have to log in with your ravelry name/password) or look below for a regular link Ravelry: Rambling Rows Jacket by Pat Penney and Carol Anderson.

It looks best in a nice hand-painted or space-dyed yarn with long color changes such as Noro. Here is an example anyone can look at (photo is a bit dark)
Rambling Rows Jacket

The patterns will be available at Knitorious, Chris' Needle Crafts, Knit ‘n Caboodle, and The Weaving Dept at Myers House.

You need yarn that will give you 4 sts per inch on a size 9. The designer suggests a worsted weight, so the jacket stays soft, not stiff. There's even a pattern for an 18” doll in the booklet. Carol Anderson, the author, says her favorite RR is made out of Silk Garden - YUM :)

If you want to try out the pattern and make a baby/child sized jacket, we will have worsted weight yarn available at the Potluck and at the July meeting.

If you have ideas for future knit-alongs, contact Marilyn Webb at the email address listed in your guild directory or via info@stlouisknittersguild.com (refer to "Guild KAL" in your subject line) or bring it up on our new Ravelry group!

To find out more about the Guild and its activities, please browse our site by clicking on the menu button on the left. This expands the options. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@stlouisknittersguild.com - be sure to put "guild, knitting or yarn" in your subject line!
